Welcome to Fantail & Turtle.
We’re a whānau owned, fiercely independent, award winning bar, eatery & functions venue, driven by core values of manaakitanga, kaitiakitanga, & whanaungatanga.
Located in the heart of Takapuna, Fantail & Turtle is the place for everyone, a destination suitable for all occasions, and able to host unforgettable events for up to 600 guests. Architecturally designed by award winning studio Izzard, featuring extensive gardens, all weather outdoor spaces, and flooded with afternoon sun.
Whether you need a table for a few quiet ones or a private area to turn the music up & let your hair down, there are multiple spaces to choose from, and a dedicated Functions & Events Manager to work alongside you to ensure a flawless and stress-free experience. Our team are industry leading & regularly recognised amongst the best, and we can’t wait to show you why.
Just like our venue, our menu is designed to be shared with friends.
Expect fresh & local craft beer, real ale & cider flowing from 15 taps, an on-site microbrewery, a wine list covering near and distant regions synonymous with varietal excellence, an extensive gin list enhanced with botanics fresh from our on site gardens, bespoke cocktails to sip late into the evening, and a modern seasonal menu, designed to share with a focus on showcasing sustainable & locally sourced produce.
We operate a waste-free kitchen, using everything that doesn’t make it to the plate in stocks or sauces. Proteins are free range & house-butchered where possible, and our whole fish are sustainably line caught, broken down & dry cured on site. Herbs & greens are foraged or picked from our gardens, and food scraps are composted and returned to the soil. Dishes will arrive as they’re ready, perfect for all day grazing.
We’re fiercely independent, which means we stock only what we’re proud to serve. Every bottle and every keg is hand selected, mostly from small & independent producers, made by people that we love, and chosen for you, our manuhiri (guests), to enjoy with us.
